Mega Houndoom is one of my favorite Pokés but he got shafted so hard just the circumstances of his existence that he's hard as fuck to use

you can clearly see that they are designed to look "powered up" rather than evolved (especially M-Banette, M-Manectric)

Probably just Pidgeot. It's shit enough that it wouldn't be OP since right now it's just a worse Tornadus-T which is legal in every official and unofficial format.

Plus since Pidgeot is second only to Muk and Poliwrath in "this piece of shit just gets bigger" evolutions, they could retcon regular pidgeot and make this the new evolution

Then you got M-Slowbro whose got none of that, and I kinda like t but it just doesn't seem mega status to me.
Yea it's fortified but It really became it's perfect most powerful form by becoming this immobile husk that must stand of it's tail for what purpose?

It wouldn't be broken because it would lose it's access to priority and spamable STAB move and while it would be a normally god tier piviot and lead with those moves it's x4 weak to stealth rock.

I'll accept that some two-stagers should have their current Megas. In my mind, M-Houndoom isn't different enough from regular M-Houndoom to justify it as a separate evo.

But all the Megas for single-stagers should be evolutions EXCEPT for Kangaskhan.

I don't think Mega evos would work as normal evos, mostly because they're clearly meant to only have slight differences from their original form.

There are a few exceptions, in which they look different enough that they could possibly be considered a different Pokemon, while also following the progression. Mega Abomasnow and Mega Slowbro come to mind. Mega Absol possibly, as well.

If anything there are some Evolutions that should be retconned into Megas. Fuck Magmortar and Rhyperior. Make them Megas and buff Magmar and Rhyhorn instead.
