So no gyms in Alola. While that doesnt have to be bad per se - the new trials might be very good plus its nice to have a change - its still a risk that might backfire. Afterall gyms are one of the staples of the main Pokemon games for 20 years now and its possible we dont even battle trial captains but just totems said captains guard (afterall they are the main goal of each trial).

Moreover Sun and Moon ARE 20th annivesary games and GF has been using said annivesary to promote the games (it all comes together etc) so its hard to believe they're getting rid of such a known aspect.

Or maybe they arent? Maybe GF found a way around it? I can see two scenarios that would make that work

Scenario A: in the post game we're going to Kalos and battle gyms there. There are lots of links between Kalos and Alola (Zygarde, Souvenir, many Kalos features are back) but personally i doubt GF will do it, they're too lazy for that
Scenario B - PWT a place when you can battle all old gym leaders which wouldnt be that hard to make
