Kyogre always felt a bit underwhelming to me. Sure its a cool whale pokemon with a good concept and design but I felt it was always overshadowed by the behemoth that is Wailord. It also didn't help that they where both introduced in the same generation.

I love it. It's an ancient, scary looking sea god that slumbers in mysterious caverns at the bottom of the sea, it's probably my favorite legendary Pokemon just for the concept. The only disappointing thing is how small the base form is. I wish there were more intimidating sea monster Pokemon.

I'm not familiar with the competitive scene, so why couldn't a player just bring out Primal Kyogre after Primal Groudon to overwrite his desolate Land with Primordial Sea?

I mean, you can, but groudon can just swap out. Desolate land is much more usefull than primordial sea, since it eliminates a whole weakness rather than a resistance.
