What would be the most underrated or least-liked type?
I want to do a monotype run on my Alpha Sapphire but i'm sick of playing Water or Dragon even though they are my favourites so i want to play with some of the less preferred type
Rock maybe? but i'm pretty sure rock has many super strong mons
Or Normal? i rarely see people talk about that type

Normal might be most underrated.

Rock has been my personal least favourite for awhile but having a fairly-common Explosion resist in Nuzlockes is kind of nice...

Normal mono runs can be pretty fun, but it really depends on the game as to whether you'll have enough to make a fun team.

Grass is good for a challenge as well.

Poison in ORAS probably, I'm pretty sure Crobat and Muk are the best things you can get.

okay so either Grass,Normal,Ice/Bug, and Poison
availability wise, i think Normal or Bug might be the easiest with them having a lot of mons to choose
but how would Bug work? not a single Bug pokemon can use surf
and i don't think Ice is even possible considering the first time you can even find an ice mon would be before the last gym badge

my favorite types are usually poison and fire.
I tried putting a Lickitung on my team and even though I like the looks of it, it's sadly a weak little shit that always loses. still learns pretty much everything. it's the same with Nidoking or queen. they look cool, learn all but are actually pretty weak.

grass types are good as fuck and not that weak. I always catch Bellsprout in the beginning and evolve it. but it takes long until learning razor leaves and leaf blade and all that.

bug mono run is hard as fuck. they are weaklings. wouldn't recommend. maybe if you use Venomoth, Scyther and Pinsir.

So far I've completed:

Of everything, I'd say Grass was by far the toughest type to beat a main story with. They have the absolutely worst selection of moves and if you limit yourself to the ones just available in-game (esp. during Gen I or Gen II) you're going to have a terrible time.

Falkner and Bugsy were actually tough and I had a completely fucked up time beating Claire without any Ice or Dragon moves at my disposable. This was years back, but I remember abusing the shit out of Sleep Powder, Spore, and poison status.

At some point, I think I had to "break" and give my trainer a Sudowoodo and pretend "he was retarded" just so I wouldn't get wrecked by all of Grass-type's weaknesses.

My final team was something like:
-Meganium (defensive wall)
-Victreebel (physical sweeper)
-Vileplume (special attacker/support)
-Sunflora (fluff/useless, swapped for Sudo)
-Sudowoodo (tried to use as minimally as possible, swapped for Sunflora)
-Jumpluff (scout/support)
-Parasect (Spore and bug-type support)

I refused to trade over anything, even a Bulbasaur. It was hell.

Looking back, I may have even traded over Gen III/IV Grass-types to get the Elite 4. I seem to recall having a Shiftry and a Ludicolo on my team for Will and Lance. I absolutely sent them over as Eggs and trained from the ground up to make it more "fair" though.
