We all had just one Pokemon at some point anon.

What bugs me is when they have multiple of the same Pokemon, or prevos that are past the level they would evolve at.

Yeah just having one is just fine, I can imagine that people would only want one mon they battle with and maybe more for other purposes.

That said, I'd like to see more battles where you can encounter trainers with 6 pokemon with no species duplicated, I loved those breeders in Gen III west of Mauville city for that reason.

the problem with that, is the pokemon are lower in level to balance the team, so it's easier to sweep them.

It nets you a little more experience, but it's just not worth the 2 minutes and 6 PP you lose every time one of them engages you.

There's a difference between challenge and tedium.

I get slightly annoyed that every enemy trainer's pokemon is in perfect health at all times, even if they're complaining about how hard the area has been on their team.

Just once I want to come across someone with a team 5 levels higher, but all at half health or poisoned or whatever

Having Prevos is only anoying to me because they're always the same level as the evolved form that trainer has. Otherwise you could reasonably assume they're training several at one time and the prevo just isn't there yet.
