>>28103365It's simply not true that only trying and hard work can make anything happen. Luck, happenstance, and tons of factors out of your control heavily influence how your life ends up. I'm not saying they completely do, not at all. Both are heavy factors, but one doesn't outweigh the other. Some failures are out of your hands, and that's just life. Giving children extremes like 'you can do anything if you try hard enough' is also poisonous to them.
It's easy to just yell LOSER LOSER LOSER and try to make life black and white, though.
