Too many evolutions and babies. Way too many legendaries. Couldn't access a huge portion of them until after beating the elite 4 in DP. Platinum fixed this, however.

Design-wise I'm 50/50 on. Some are my absolute favorites while others I consider hideous.

That's generally what they do in even gens. Gen 2 was a lighter version of the same thing, and gen 6 added megas instead of new mons.

Off the top of my head the only time we've ever gotten a cross gen evo in an odd gen was wynaut in gen 3.
