Could this be relevant to the legendary Pokemon of Sun and Moon? Solgaleo is the Emissary of the Sun, and Lunala is the Emissary of the Moon. Could Marshadow be the Emissary of Mars (or the Pokemon equivalent of it -- the first planet we seek to explore and inhabit?)

You'd think that the fact that Mauna Kea has the largest group of observatories in the world I think and there are observatories on the map would have been more relevant.

It might be. I feel like they're going with some space exploration theme with the legendaries. It also helps tie it in with a potential DP remake, which had some elements of space tied in with the evil team and legendaries.

Meh, Hawaiians have their creation myth on that mountain so maybe it'll be tied into the tapu koko like legendaries or whatever.
That mountain is a can of worms in itself anyways.
