Squirtle: This line of Squirtle are terrestrial, with heavier shells to defend from land predators. Blastoise shoots sand of its cannons.
Ground/Rock
Bulbasaur: Its bulb withered due to inadequate sunlight, leaving dead vines and a ghostly aura around it. No longer weighed down by a heavy plant, it's evolutions become take a bipedal stance.
Grass/Ghost or Dark/Ghost
Charmander: Due to the high amount of water in Alola, this line of Charmander has grown wings to fly from island to island. It has grown a round shell (like Dragonair's beads) to protect its flame.
Flying/Dragon
Chikorita: Due to eating too many pancakes this Pokemon became very cute and fat, but its leaf withered die to malnutrition. Its hunger grew exponentially from a loss of solar energy, and it became so hungry that it began to eat metal.
Normal/Steel
Totodile: This line of Totodile walks on all fours, scavenging for food. While primarily a land Pokemon, it may still swim from island to island in search of food. (Based off a Komodo dragon)
Ground/Water
Cyndaquil: Cyndaquil in Alola were revered for their flame when first imported to Alola, and have become associated with the sun god. As a result Cyndaquil are constantly adorned with flowers and praise, and have become completely docile and unafraid of their surroundings. As a result they have become incapable of producing anything more than smoke.
