When are they going to nerf Dark type? This shit is ridiculous.

Ghost and Psychic types don't stand a chance anymore. Psychic even more so. There's literally no reason to use Psychic over something 10x better like Fairy.

If you had a more nuanced view of the metagame you'd know that Ghost and Psychic are pretty fine as they are. Ghost is an amazing offensive typing that actually wants a nerf, since Ghost + Fighting has universal coverage until we get a Normal & Ghost type. They can afford to let Bug resist Ghost, since it resists Fighting too, to balance that. Psychic is a good defensive typing with good offensive presence when paired with Fighting and either Dark or Ghost.

Dark itself isn't a problem. Sucker Punch is fine. Knock Off can afford to be nerfed so that only Dark type Pokemon receive the 50% boost when removing an item, while there's no 50% boost when using it on a Sticky Hold mon (right now, the boost still applies to Sticky Hold mons).

And a reason is when wanting to deal with Poison.

Yep, this is exactly it. Dark as a type is actually still a bit underpowered in the grand scheme of things, its just Knock Off got buffed too much. When its an auto include on anything that can run it, it needs looking at.

Mega Gyarados, Tyranitar, and the frog don't learn it though. And they're some of the best Dark types.

Before gen 6 the only Dark types that even mattered were Darkrai and Tyranitar (and no Hydreigon never mattered).

They were long overdue for a buff.

I think Knock Off is worse right now, because so many non Dark types have access to it. Scald has a few non Water types that get it, but normally its pretty predictable. Knock Off being on everything makes Ghost and Psychic switch ins very problematic.

They're both cancer though, and I'm not using that term as a buzzword.

What the fuck does that move have to do with Dark typing you idiot? It's a status move and literally only one Pokemon learns it, a mythical at that. Two if you count Smeargle. Its type is completely arbitrary.

Knock Off and Sucker Punch are literally all Dark has going for it. Its resistances suck, its offenses suck, they generally have pretty low defenses and shallow movepools unless dual-type and those two moves aside, Ghost does everything they do but better.

This is definitely untrue. One real resistance, weakness to two of the most prevalent moves in the game.

I don't know, man. I think all of the moves in question are fine on their own, but everyone has access to 'em and there really isn't much reason to use Dark/Rock/Poison Pokemon. By greatly limiting those excellent utility moves, you maybe open up a little more variety in terms of what Pokemon people put on a team.

The problem with Poison types is there aren't a lot of Poison types. Reducing the distribution of Toxic fullstop makes stall better.
Stealth rock is the only thing keeping singles from being a boring switchfest, Nerfing the distribution of Rock Slide and Stone Edge would do more than limiting Stealth Rock to mostly rock types (look at Gen 6 pre bank for an example, since Stealth Rocks had limited distributiong then Tyranitar was almost everyone's rock setter, and Tyranitar is good anyway, no one was using shittier rock types.)
Knock Off is questionable, nerfing its distribution would help since almost everything learns it, but few of the good dark types learn knock off as it is.

Tyranitar was single handedly keeping the dark type up by itself before Knock Off's buff. Interestingly it is also what keeps Rock type up. Sort of proves that a bad typing can be saved with good stats, movepool, and abilities.

Dark needs a buff imo. They got nerfed hard by Fairies after being wrecked by all the Fighting spam in gen V. It's just not fair for them right now.

Half the learnpool for all those moves are Pokémon that aren't even dark type.
Their mostly used for utility, too.
The dark typing is really balanced. These particular moves just so good.

Fucking how? The only Ghost-type moves that see any use are are Shadow Ball and Shadow Ball. If, god forbid, someone wanted to use a Physical Ghost-type their only options would be Shadow Claw and Phantom Force

Ghost is kept in check by being populated entirely by Shitmons, Gimmickmons and Gengar
