Although now that I think about it, that actually makes them perfect candidates for regional variants because there's no need for natural selection. There could easily be Rock/Ghost Golurk made of stone rather than clay, or Grass-type Voltorb made from a failed attempt to mass produce and corner the market on Apricorn Balls.
