Current Ash wins battles ONLY on strategy. He loses only to raw firepower, which was pretty much the case with Alan and Tobias, who had no strategy, but super-strong mons.

Strategy-fags like Conway, Paul and Shota who relied on trap moves and type advantage (and in Shota's case, designed a strategy specifically to counter-act Ash's team) were all outsmarted by Ash.

Guess he needed some Megas and Legendaries on his team, huh?

The Autism in this post is unbearable. I actually do watch the show and Ash rarely uses strategies when he's in Pokémon battles. Is Somebody a little upset that Ash got a well-deserved loss by somebody much better like Alan?

Oh, I know it's really just hack writing. I'm just saying that, if one tried to explain why Ash is a loser, it's definitely not about poor strategy and types. He's long past that.

Meh. Last time I was the one saying that it's useless to discuss the merits of characters' strategy because the writers can make a total noob beat Mewtwo with a Caterpie if they wanted to. Got immediate (You)s telling me that meta-explanations are irrelevant and everything should be explained per series.

Sometimes you just can't win.

But he does. He defeated all the strategy-oriented rivals, like Paul and Conway through strategy, and types. He's got beaten by trainers that used the much stronger Pokemon like Tobias and Alan (both of whom used only ONE Pokemon to fight trough the League before meeting Ash and having to use other team members).

Perhaps I should have explained myself further instead of insulting the OP. I apologize.

It's not just that it was the final, it was that it was a rival. He lost to Alain before because he hadn't perfected the sync with greninja yet, but even with an incomplete sync, he was giving charizard some trouble, and was even good enough to hit the champion's ace. Fast forward to the league, where he finally mastered the sync, and charizard just shrugs a fuckhuge shuriken off like it was nothing. It just sorta seems like a slap in the face.
