Honestly I'm surprised this hasn't happened yet. It wouldn't be enormously game changing, but it would give Psychic and interesting quirk to go with it.

I like the Psychic can't be confused one.

Mine are,
- Scald nerfed to 55 BP (Discharge and Lava Plume are fine since they actually correspond to their respective type being immune)
- Knock Off doesn't apply the 50% boost unless the user is Dark, and doesn't apply the 50% boost regardless if the opposing mon has Sticky Hold
- Hail boosts the Defense of Ice types by 50%, and Ice now resists Flying and Normal
- A new hazard removal option and a hazard removal ability that triggers on entry with tight distribution to mostly otherwise shitmons
- Bug resists Ghost
- Grass resists Fairy
- Poison is super effective against Water

To be fair was not completely arbitrary. Electric can't be paralyzed makes sense. Steel can't be poisoned, they aren't biologically predisposed. Poison can't be poisoned, it doesn't harm them. It all makes sense.

I'd agree, except that Body Slam paralysis and Thunder Wave paralysis are not the same thing. Body Slam should be able to inflict paralysis on electric types, similar to how Twineedle could poison Steel types for a few generations.

I always thought it was because birds tend to live in trees, even going so far as to pick them apart in order to build a nest. Certain birds also eat plants.

Another angle I thought of is that while plants are typically rooted to one place for their whole life, flying animals not only can walk around, but fly and perhaps swim. They have the most freedom, and the plants have the least.

That's the best explanation I can come up with... Besides, some of the effectivenesses make even less sense than that.
