Valencian is a variety of Catalan. I'm not going to give it a label because labels are sociopolitically charged; they have very complicated connotations.
I'm a descriptivist sociolinguist. As such, I don't believe that one language is 'better' or 'more correct' than another. I do not support the notion that Occidental Catalan is the 'català de veritat' and that Valencian is merely 'català mal parlat'.
You're very clearly biased against current sociolinguistic knowledge. You're letting your own bias warp your perception of the Catalan dialect continuum. You need to be more objective/academic in your approach to these issues, even if it is to gain self-awareness about your language and its culture beyond Catalonia.
I'm basing this purely on your use of 'mal parlat', which tells me more about your linguistic attitudes than you would think.
