I wouldn't upgrade if the only thing you plan to use it for is Pokemon.

If there are more than 2 or 3 n3DS exclusives or enhanced (e.g. Hyrule Warriors, Monster Hunter etc) games you would want to play, then go for it

No, you don't have to pirate shit just because you run homebrew, but homebrew lets you play old legitimately purchased (physical or digital) games at full performance, as well as let you fuck around with save editors and shit if you want to.

Some games have performance improvements or enable certain features on new 3DS without explicitly documenting them. MH4U has better loading times and textures, Project Mirai DX has 2x antialiasing in 3D mode on n3DSs etc.

I'm going to buy one of those 3ds mario bundles if I can get my hands on one of them at Shopper's (canadafag here, it's 20x the points for purchasing one of them this Saturday).

If not I might see the price for an used one at GameStop. I really don't plan on playing any other games, and I don't even know if I'm going to enjoy Moon THAT much in order to really justify spending money on a new system. I do have a 2ds though, so at worst I could just use that one and suffer through the slowness.

I had a preowned O3DS for a long while and its buttons started failing on me, I refused to upgrade but after not being able to play anything on it for months I ordered a N3DSXL and I don't regret it. The big screen+ design is much better for my eyes and my hands
