Competitive Pokémon isn't about making sick reads. It's about knowing your win condition and getting rid of the opponents'. Yes, predictions are sometimes needed but in most cases it's better to play safely than to take a dumb risk and make a read. If it backfires you're now in the back.

I love the "I can beat an 1100 shitter with my Karenfag team so Smogon is dumb xD" meme.
