Eviolite is Gen V, retard. Point is, people wanted new Pokemon in new generation but all they got was a bunch of ugly (pre)evos and spam of legendaries. I imagine that other anon meant "ability to use in the playthrough" when using "viable".

Both or you are correct. Gen IV on its own was fine but it also started the powercreep because additions were stronger than what we got in previous three generations.
They're shitty Mew clones and there's three of them. They can't compare to birds or beasts design-wise and to regis concept-wise. Plus they're part of the legion of legendaries introduced in Gen IV. It would be better if Game Freak added more normal Pokemon instead of those little shits.
