Honestly, the fact it isn't a Bug/Dark type is a bit strange, considering its counterpart Escavalier gained a new typing when it evolved and Dark is the defacto criminal/thief type (in this case it's a ninja).

It was the perfect opportunity to finally give us that typing (and if you really wanted to stretch justification beyond the ninja thing, they would both be gaining the types introduced in Gen 2), but Game Freak blew it.
