Seeing as this is a Patricia Hernandez article I’ll have to dumb it down real smoothly for you. I feel that I, as the representation of Omnimon, know what I am talking about. For those who hate Kotaku, it's bitching about how Pokemon never stole Digimon's mega evolutions, and yes I am talking about this on this board because fuck you, I'm invading your shit. Fuck Pokemon, and fuck you for liking that shit. I'll admit that Pokemon has the better games, but if we're talking cartoons here then yes Digimon has the better anime.

Are you aware of copyright here?

Are you aware that the original version of Digimon had to approve a dubbed version? Are you aware of business transactions involving copyright? There would have had to be some negotiation between those companies; Bandai, Toei Animation and the Creator Akiyoshi Hongo about how Fox Kids was going to handle the dubbed version. They are outsourcing their copyrighted material to the Western world. Translations and all of that will have been discussed with Fox Kids and Toei Animation to create a version similar to what the creative medium originally intended, but catered for a different audience. Things would have been omitted, altered etc. to cater better for the kids in America. That’s business. It’s a business company; they are out to get as much ratings as possible and to cater to as many audiences as possible.

Also, you can’t sit here and tell me that you were watching the Japanese version of Pokemon as a kid. You watched the English version. It’s the same with Digimon; we watched the English version as kids.

The Japanese scene of Omegamon’s Birth was far superior as it was religiously based, but again this was altered in the English version; Omnimon’s Birth. They had to tone it down for audiences. Again, different cultures, different audiences. That's why in the dubbed version, we have Mega Digivolutions.
