I'm not normally this rude, but GOOD LORD, you people are fucking thick. Ok, let's break this down. Yes, Gamefreak is a huge corporate game developer, but guess what? Budgets are a thing that exist. There is only ever X amount of stuff they can fit into any given new generation. So far, every Odd numbered gen has had significantly more Pokemon added, whereas the even numbered generations have fewer Pokemon but also tend to add more new features and make preexisting evolutionary lines more interesting with much needed evolutions or, more recently, mega evolutions. Now if we don't count legendaries, which, face it, most of us don't, the number of evolutionary families breaks down like this; Kanto 73, Johto 45, Hoenn 63, Sinnoh 31, Unova 69, Kalos 31. Now I personally would count Alolan forms as new Pokemon, with new move pools, abilities, and design inspirations. I'd bet GF does too. But even if we don't, and that does cut into the number of brand spanking new Pokemon, the number of Alolan families is 28. Assuming more 2 for fossils, and they obviously haven't shown us everything yet (if you think they have... Well, good luck to you, friend) we are already better off than Sinnoh and Kalos. They have spent some time on Z-moves (which I think may mean we get fewer new attacks added this gen), Alolan forms, and maybe they've added new Megas, maybe they haven't. Therefore, I'd wager we get somewhere between Johto and Hoenn, or 45-63 new families.
