Sadly, I believe not. The Battle Subway in Unova did address this. After 7 battles, you would take a stop at this little aisle in the subway. There you can save and if you die during the next 7 battles, you can soft reset and end back there, so you don't have to start all the way from the beginning.

That seems like a glitch, even Gen 3 had things in place to prevent that.
