What about these games do you guys not like?
-It stays true to the originals
-No new ones until the game is over
-New expanded postgame
-Less trumpets than RSE
-Original Game Corner music

As an apparent Genwunner because when i started defines everything i am about pokemon, these remakes are my favorite in the series, i got to replay the originals without slogging through all the outdated machanics.

My only complaint was not having access to later evolutions to the original pokemon like Crobat and the various Eevelutions right off the bat.

It's also the reason why i still have my favorite pokemon all the way down the line to ORAS now, thanks to various trading/importing.

Well, I guess it's a way so Charmander starters don't get fucked so horribly in the first gym, since the only mons with useful abilities against rock types that you can get before Pewter in the remake are Mankey and Butterfree.

Misty will still be a pain in the ass without a well trained team.

They're solid games, though I feel like rather than just playing it safe and keeping everything the same, they should have taken the opportunity to expand upon things and make Kanto less simple.

Add some more side forests and caves to explore, make Cinnabar island large enough for an actual town, add in hard to reach locations to catch previously trade or gift only pokemon.

It was a solid game, though I think it could have been a lot better if they hadn't tried to just copy everything with no variance.

compared to rse (which I love as fuck) these games have the much better graphics. I literally was amazed when I saw that and was a little bit down, when I heard that emerald wouldn´t look like that.

the only thing that killed it was the absence of day and night system, but the reason for it was possible so you couldn´t get umbreon and espeon before the league.

I'll elaborate

They added just enough new stuff for nobody to complain, but not to write home about.

With small amounts of firsts such as elite 4 rematch and the BEST way to rebattle trainers it's notable, but lacking cross evos until national dex and blocking trade with RS to be considered great.

It's good that's all. Nothing more nothing less

I watched the end of a Nuzlocke of it and realized that there's no character improvement.

The Oaks are a real problem, the Professor is the closest thing to a father Gary has, and...god he's foul to him.

I'm not surprised why Gary's a dick anymore. When I saw that last night I just...felt compelled to see a new remake of Gen 1 that made these characters less reprehensible, there's potential for these characters to feel so relatable, but they're too paper thin in their characterization in the games centered around them that exist.

There is hardly any character stuff at all in the original games.

You get cut just for rubbing a guy's back, Giovanni disbands an entire criminal organization just because some kid beat him three times and the Cubone stuff only gets mentioned by some people in Lavender town.
