A bigger Kanto would be fun to explore, the Ash Grey hack did a pretty good job of making one.

There are too many cities here compared to routes/dungeons.

At first I thought it would be too much, but on second thought this could be pretty great. If the game took a more open-ended design style where there were more than 8 badges but you only needed 8 to enter the Pokemon League.

Of course the extra towns would need special events, items, contests, etc to be worth having them.

if you didn't already realise. OP included all the names of towns and locations from the Anime. such as the Larame Ranch next to the safari zone, where Ash rides a ponyta in a race, and Pokemonopolis on victory road, where a Giant tatooed gengar and giant tattooed alakazam have a battle.

Poor town/route ratio. Towns don't usually have a lot to offer and you can stuff a lot of things in just a few towns. Making the world route heavy with each route having lots of caves or dungeons and stuff and keeping the number of towns around the same makes each town seem more important and almost like a sanctuary. You can also focus on expanding cities to make them more realistic while still having content.

I don't think the point was whether it'd make a good game. He just charted out the region according to the anime.

Take >>28260916, for example. In the anime, Ash & Co visited a new town every episode from XY109 to XY112, and it looks like it resulted in that awful stretch from Couriway to Snowbelle.

Looks nice, but I think that if you really want to have so many towns, instead of cramming them in bulk or routes between existing ones, better add few new routes and detours like >>28261681did. We can easily assume that whole regions are bigger and feature more sites that game characters visit on their journey, but it's kinda hard to believe that they have walked straight through several towns and missed them.
