>>28263128Its 3v3 turn-based battles (you can have up to 11 Digimon with you and switch out during battle), with the turn order being flexible (i.e. faster Digimon also get more turns, with speed buffs/debuffs, recoil, and other things playing a role).
Each Digimon species has an attribute, which work in a rock-paper-scissors fashion; and an element, while every attack has an element too. It works a bit like Pokémon, but also differently in some ways, and gives some more freedom (like being able to reverse the attribute of a Digimon by inflicting Bug status).
Each Digimon species has a passive ability, one or two unique special moves, and a learnset of generic moves. These generic moves are retained when you evolve/devolve, so every Digimon can learn every move with enough grinding.
Each attack uses MP like in conventional RPGs though, except for the standard (usually weak) “Attack” attack, so managing that is important too (moreso in multiplayer where you don't have healing items).
>>28263141Doesn't help that Mastemon is a must in the single player campaign, and Lilithmon is one of the best Digimon in the game period.
