platinum, games earlier than that are too oudated

black / white is very text heavy which i thought was offputting. black / white 2 is solid but may feel like you're missing out without having played black / white.

don't listen to heartgold / soulsilver memers, even with the updated battle meta there's tons of shitty things about the region gf didn't bother fixing
