How good is plain kadabra? Also, who uses /pokemon that evolves by trading unevolved/ here?

Kadabra is very decent in-game. Good SpA and Speed, it's solid. Don't expect it to take hits though, even NVE will hurt

I used one in Emerald before figuring out how to trade between emulators, it's ok

If your playing on PC just use YAPE editor to make it so Kadabra evolves whatever level you want.

Wrong. Trade evolutions are fine.

Kadabra's Base Stats: 40 /35 /30 /120 /70 /105
Alakazam's Base Stats: 55 /50 /45 /135 /95 /120

Alakazam is a lot stronger, but Kadabra is still faster and stronger than most everything else you'll face. Just don't get hit.

Gen I Pokemon faster than Kadabra:
Starmie
Dugtrio
Alakazam
Electrode
Aerodactyl
Gengar
Jolteon
Persian
Raichu

You won't encounter many of them throughout your quest.
