obviously it's specifically mimicing Lillie. We'll probably get some ETripoff plot about Lillie trying to keep BU01 from being captured by Aether because they want to "love" all pokemon in some ominous way and her friendship wih BU01 will somehow save or redeem it yadda yadda blah blah blah that whole shpiel.

I don't think they're the same thing. It can change its shapes, but it probably couldn't change it to the point of looking human. Most likely it just encountered Lillie at some point, and decided to take on her form for whatever reason.

Considering she has the same hair color, skin tone, and eye color as Lusamine and Gladion, I'm guessing they're all related in some way.
I'm theorizing Lusamine and Gladion are siblings, UB-01/Lillie is some fucked up experiment that involves their DNA. Gladion leaves Lusamine/Aether, and at some point in the story, reveals to you that Lusamine/Aether are the real bad guys. You side with Team Skull to defeat Aether. Type: Null is probably one of Aether's experiments that Gladion took with him when he left.
Either that, or Lillie, Lusamine, AND Gladion are all ayy lmaos and they're having a family gued.
