Zygarde cells are just part of a bigger entity, it makes sense for it not to be a pokémon, just like a feather or a claw aren't animals. It's no wonder they seem to be treated like items in the game.

But if UB-01 is its own thing, with its own consciousness, then it makes no sense for it not to be a pokémon.

Hoopa fucks around with different dimensions all the time. It was throwing legendaries all over the place in Hoenn. Ripping them out of time and space and dumping them out with their outdated battle music and all.

I think what bothers me isn't that UB-01 isn't a pokémon, but that shit like Arceus and Magearna are.

The concept of a creature that's neither human not pokémon is pretty cool and it's something that I've wanted since I saw the D-Reaper in Digimon, but UB-01 doesn't seem to have anything that distinguish it from other artificial/ayy lmao mons.

I hope it's some kind of human/pokémon hybrid, that's the only decent explanation I can think of.

They may be composed differently to humans and Pokemon.

It's hard to explain why, but looking at UB01 in action you get the feeling it isn't a Pokemon.

i agree the story is interesting, but all mysteries are-theyre the cornerstone of addictive and popular storytelling. as long as characters like barb exist to be clear throwaway characters so none of the main cast gets hurt, it will also not be "great"

Deoxys is a space virus. It's a pokemon.

You can keep both of these things contained like a pokemon. I don't see why Ultra Beasts should be so special. I don't care if they're not technically pokemon, I just want to be able to catch them.

There is no reason why you should be able to catch the very creator of everything, and not these dimension hopping schmucks.

If I recall correctly a lot about Arceus comes from mythology and isn't necessarily fact. Even if it is true it could merely mean that Arceus only created the Pokemon universe/dimension and other universes/dimensions existed beforehand or were created afterwards.

Pokemon are of the known physical universe, this thing would be something considered "beyond comprehension" so it most likely comes from something of divine/magical proportions like Heaven.

I'm going to guess most "Pokemon" are of the "Physical plane" space/time/life/etc., some legends and mythicals may originate in higher plains though.

In the real world it represents something that if it stood before you, it would be so abstract from your reality you wouldn't be able to notice/see/smell it let alone begin to fathom it.

We already know from several parts of the franchise that Arceus, Dialga, Palkia, Giratina and Unown live in different dimensions from the one we usually see in the games. And that's not even counting things like dream or ghost dimensions.

The anime even went as far as showing pic related, a model of these dimensions. All of them being part of Arceus' creation.

So what if Ultra Beasts are creatures from "outside" this multiverse? They could even be from the "gaps" between dimensions or be completely detached from everything. It would explain why they're not considered pokémon, since their origins differ from every other creature shown so far (even humans).

I always saw the "Dream Dimension" as being the positive rift between all the "actual" dimensions, and the "Ghost Dimension" being the negative one. You know, like how the Distortion World is the opposite of ours, they would be the opposite of each other. Not as actual dimensions, but merely as the void between worlds.

Arceus' World >< Unown's World
Dream Rift >< Ghost Rift

Ultra Beasts could have originated from the rifts on their own, thus not being of Arceus' creation and thus not be Pokémon. Or they could simply be from outside of Arceus' Multiverse.

I wonder how it fits with the Mystery Dungeon universe...

Haven't you wondered how Pokemon could be perfectly digitized and reconstituted before? It makes no sense how they could be stored in a PC, right? They aren't real. Though, it does have a mouth... UB is the only creature in the franchise to not have any facial features whatsoever... If we accept Sableye and Staryu/Starmie's gemstones as being their eyes that is.

Humans and Pokémon were according to Sinnoh folklore once one and the same, but not only is it "just" folklore, it's also in the past tense. Perhaps humans were Pokémon once, but currently they aren't.

Weirdly, they might actually be animals and as such be more closely related to the coral seen in multiple games than actual human-like Pokémon.

Best I can come up with is that UB-01 defies whatever laws otherwise govern the pokemon universe. I mean hell, for all we know it is a parasite clinging to the exterior of reality by Lillie being born under some random stroke of events, or an entity that says hi by a method that coincidentally flats the flesh of the creatures of the pokemon universe. I think we are getting a look at what an eldritch abomination looks like in the pokemon world.

Honestly the Aether Foundation strikes me as the "We love Pokemon so much that we want to transform everyone into Pokemon!" kind of group. I'm assuming all the higher ups will have UB forms.
