Why Do People Want D&P Remakes?

After drastically changing the base formula with Sun and Moon, why do people even remotely want Gen 4 remakes? XY were good, ORAS was meh, and we're only now finally reaching the next level of potential for the series. These will be the definitive and likely final games on the 3DS. I have no qualms with 4th Gen whatsoever, but Sun and Moon will be the GOAT when they do drop.

Exactly because of that.

Two very different formulas in the same generation + nostalgia factor inherent to every remake combined = Good.

I enjoyed the games when I was younger and I enjoyed Platinum even more

I loved the Sinnoh region and I felt the starters we're the best we've ever had

So naturally yeah I'd want a remake of it

Well, for starters, XY was trash and ORAS was between OK and Good.
Second, because I liked Sinnoh. I can still want remakes even if I'm excited for SM. Hell, I expect the DP remakes to be gen 8 rather than gen 7

I actually hope they change up the formula a little and just make a sequel in Sinnoh instead of a direct remake. They're being kind of adventurous by changing stuff in Sun and Moon, so maybe they'll do something different with the remakes.

All very fair points here. This is why I'm asking, to hear different opinions on why the idea has been fairly hyped up as of late. The music was indeed great, and Sinnoh was a good region too. I overall preferred Unova, but I'm liking these responses so far.

I don't really see gen 4 remakes happening yet with NX coming up soon. If it's a console/handheld hybrid then I'm only expecting gen 7 to have a third version or S2M2, like how BW released shortly before 3DS came out and B2W2 when it was a year old.

Confession time: the only gen 4 game I played was Heart Gold. If they remake DPP I will have the opportunity to explore a region I've never played in with the new graphics, new pokemon and features and fairy type, so I'm all down for them remakes

Because it's second best gen, I also grew up with Sinnoh and Kanto. It's a really comfy gen, the remixes and scenery would be beautiful in 3D.

I don't see why people want Kanto remakes, yes gen 1 is nice but we already had Firered, and it's really boring compared to the other games that need remakes.

See, here's the thing. No one actually wants D&P remakes.

They want a Platinum Remake.

Which is why Gen 4 remakes will be as disappointing as Omega Ruby & Alpha Sapphire, what people really wanted was Eta Emerald

Why do we even need remakes? They already utilized the new standards in later games with online play and the physical/special split. i dont think even gen 7-8 will be connected storywise.

Delta Episode was the only truly strong part of ORAS. Other than that, I found Kalos to be a much more interesting region than Hoenn in 3D. ORAS may have had soaring and a tad more post game, but XY was more fun

I think ORAS is a lot better, personally. More content, more postgame, and a much more dynamic region, that never feels boring, due to new mirage spots and Secret Bases daily, and Soaring and DexNav, etc

I think remakes as we know it are dead. Any retreads of old regions we see in the future will probably benefit more from being sequels or reimaginings rather than playing it straight with the remake angle. I'd certainly like to see Sinnoh or even Kanto in Sun/Moon tier 3D graphics

Not him, but I'm 26, my first game was Red, and I quit the series and skipped Gen 3. Gen 4 got me back into Pokemon during high school, and I have pretty strong nostalgia for it.
