It objectively had the most "hardcore" content out of any Pokemon game. Absolutely nothing about them screamed "it's for babies", in fact it improved upon BW's sombre tone (your only "friend" is your rival, a city gets nuked, you almost get frozen alive, Colress' device, etc).

This Its stupid to even argue with Gen I fantasizers.Bitch about the new pokemon all you want, but there's no way the franchise would have survived as long as it has without the introduction of new pokemon. Lets face it the original 151 are kinda boring and bland. Also, the original 151 were so one sided Only a handful of pokemon were usable and Dragonite raped everything in sight.

My brother and I are in our late 20's. He's played since Gen I but I started mostly in Gen II, and I have no problem with the new games. Every generation has its stupid and derpy pokemon so whining about ice cream cone pokemon or a pair of keys as a pokemon is pointless when gen I had; A pokeball pokemon (voltorb) two purple blobs (grimer/ditto) two incredibly boring bird pokemon (pidgey/spearow line) and a regular horse thats on fire among other things.

This. I liked B2W2. It somehow felt...fresh, even though we were revisiting the same region the selection of pokemon were unique and yes the games were considerably more challenging than Gen VI.

yeah it did. All you do is "scout out" the ice types on your opponents team with a grass or flying type and once they're defeated you bring out a mixed sweeper dragonite (because STAB didn't really matter back then) and proceed to clean house.
