Thing is, movie Mewtwo always had a different origin from game Mewtwo, despite people always viewing them as a single entity.
Movie Mewtwo was made to be a weapon and comprised of the DNA of many Pokemon.
Game Mewtwo was just an attempt to impregnate Mew resulting in an absurdedly powerful Pokemon.
Because of this, I don't really think Type: Null is a repeat of Mewtwo, at least as far as game lore goes.
