>>28358365You NEED a degree in most parts of America to get a job nowadays. It's just required. And many entry level jobs require five or more years experience so many new grads are stuck at min wage jobs. Rural areas are barren, so many head to cities to job search. Most cities are not affordable (NY is $2000 a month's rent) especially for new grads who are $40,000 in debt. Student loans are murderous, and you can't file bankruptcy. Jobs are very limited and America's government prioritizes helping businesses and the free market over the people because wall street is a collection of fucks.
My dad works at a massive corporation, and has for 30+ years, and in the last decade the company has stopped giving him and others like him promotions and raises because he doesn't have a degree. Kids as old as his own kids are being paid more than he is because they have a slip of paper. So the older gens are getting fucked too. But most students also have so much debt they can't live either.
There's a reason America is the most depressed first world country.
>>28358598Lots of laws go unnoticed because the government is too busy helping themselves. The idea is tipping gives the employer an idea of who is a shit employee. If an employee is getting too low of tips frequently, they are fired. Course most states are free to work so employers can fire you for anything besides discrimination. It also encourages workers to work harder for tips. If they didn't they'd be as pleasant as workers in supermarkets who aren't tipped.
It's a bullshit system and there have been demands to change it.
