As far as I know Japan has barely any commercial banana production except maybe for the islands far from Tokyo, in the middle of the Pacific, or Kyushu and Okinawa that all have a tropical friendly weather.
Erika definitely isn't native to these regions, Hoenn and Sevii Islands, Serena is from Kalos, same for the Beauty, no banana plantations in France, the Hoenn Lady is a lady trainer class, a Lady has some ethics and manners to respect, bringing a banana as a gift is kinda of poor taste and not really elegant either. So yeah, it doesn't make any sense.
The only Japanese banana I know is the Banana Yoshimoto, a writer that doesn't have anything to do with Pokemon.
