Most of Lovecrafts mythos has a strong link to water and the sea, most of his creations have features only found in earth marine life. This is literally the Pokemon take on the concept. Amorphous and impermanent shape (literally described as shape shifting), no recognizable facial features, tentacles galore, travels naked through space, clearly marine oriented in its evolution despite having long evolved beyond it, unknowable motives (please don't give UB-01 understandable motivations gf please) and so forth.
What's important is madness. If Aether has had prior contact with this thing, and IF it causes madness, then it's gonna be mighty interesting to watch tallblonde slowly descend and see what happens to Aether as they lose their way and become obsessed with the UB's.
