>>28377792>Islands can make things weird irl too in a way that doesn't happen on land.Sure, but we've had islands before. Sevii islands is the prime example of this.
>Because change has mostly been for the better in the past and this might turn out pretty good tooThat's really not what I meant. I'm not really opposed to change, I'm opposed to change that make no sense. You can't just apply one reason (darwinian evolution) and then disregard that it should happened in the past. It's a lazy excuse for lazy design that makes no sense lore-wise. That's why I dislike it. That, and the focus on gen I. It might just be for marketing reasons, but I don't see the reason to only select gen I pokémon in this regard.
>>28377919>Alolan forms might be the same sort of mysteryNot all mysteries need an answer (just look at the Star Wars fandom for obsessesion with answering small detail), but this has a clearly explained reason. However, the entire argument falls apart when you apply that reason to any other game. It's hardly a mystery when it's just adaption.
>>28379620There is really little to no evidence of this. I certainly don't find it "obvious", as even in nature animals that do look alike can have different ancestors (unless you go way back to some proto-ancestor). Not to mention many pika-clones live in various regions in the first place.
The games (or the marketing) have never focused on this as a central element, but this is not the case of Alolan variants.
