Hear me out:
With the way things have been getting revealed within a short span, to keep from revealing too much NEW Pokemon for the Alola Dex they'll reveal a couple (probably 2-3) new mega's to slow down their reveals

Because we only have next month and then the release month after that

It was the 8th last time, because the issue was officially launched earlier. The usual is that they officially launch at the 15th and leak around 12th.

Tbh I think they're going to wait with megas until the current stuff has settled down. They had a period of tons of new Pokémon, then one with Alola forms, and now one with NPCs. I feel like the next rush-period will be about Z-Moves and then, maybe as the last or second-to-last one, Megas.

Ultra Beasts will probably be scattered here and there. I don't think there's all that many of them so they can't make a rush of them.

Alola forms are already a way to slow down announcements, that's what they did with megas three years ago.
If there are new megas, and there probably aren't many of them if any, they'll probably reveal them right at the very end, along with marshadow, like when Zygarde god announced for the first time.
