I often think how I'd like they to implement in the pokedex the ability to view old gen sprites, maybe requesting a Pokémon of said gen to view it. The same way you need a Pokémon of a specific language to browse his entry in that language.

I like sprites too. I do enjoy some pixel based games. I don't mind polygons when there super HD like current gen console games, but going from pixel art to mid-low tier 3d is like a twist in the knee. I'm not saying it's outright bad, I'm just saying with what they have available, I'm disappointed that it wasn't better. Should have stayed where they were comfy.

I like the transition to 3D models, though. They need some work, but I think in the long run they're really cool.

There's something really charming about pixel sprites that just can't be captured in 3D models, though.

I think the 3D models are actually not bad, but coupled with the shitty resolution of the 3DS with the lower quality textures, it looks like shit.

Hoping that Gen 8 fixes this shit with the NX, or at the very least we get a Gen 7 game on the NX as well (doubt it, but still).

anon, the models are very good. IIRC Machamp has like 20k polygons in its model. The issue is that they use bad textures and an outline filter to make them look like sprites.

I mostly prefer the 3D models but I do miss the poses of some sprites. Mienshao comes to mind as a good example, the sprite looks interesting but the 3D model just stands around with a boring neutral pose.
