Stopped playing Pokémon quite a while ago when I was "done" with X&Y.

Decided to buy this game to bridge the waiting time until Sun and Moon. Haven't played the originals of these back then (skipped that gen somehow) so I'm excited.
Maybe I can get some good pokes to transfer over to SM too where I can get them to 100 and work on their IVs, so all I have to pay attention to really is catching the right nature.

My adventure starts now!

I played it for the first time recently after taking a few year break from pokemon as well.
Don't expect a masterpiece, but it's not an absolutely bad pokemon game either. It damn sure succeeded in getting me back into pokemon.
The most disappointing thing about it to me is the lack of things to do post-game. Now and then I get the urge to go play it again, but after 10 mins I realize there's nothing to do and get bored with it.

Neat. I personally think it's a good remake even if it misses some key stuff that should've been there.

Also, If you want to have a challenge, try avoiding the Exp. Share. The game can (arguably) be more challenging that XY. Heck, even the Champion took me more effort that Diantha, and that was without the Exp. Share too.

Battle maison, yes. But that's personally not enough to keep me interested.
There's also rematching the elite 4 and hunting down legendaries, but eh. Legendaries don't interest me that much (except for the regis).

I just bought it too, to bridge the wait. Hoenn was definitely my favorite region, so I'm really excited. I hope it's at least as good as the originals.

Multiplayer. How come Pokemon doesn't let you play and trade with other people? That would give it almost endless post game and Pokemon are perfect for custom team building and battling against real people because there's always people playing and many modular pokemon. They should introduce it already.

OP, you are about to play one of the best Pokemon games. Alha Sapphire is trully a very solid Pokemon game

Only thing you should keep in mind is that ORAS is supposed to be more of a RS remake, not a RSE remake, so as long as you remember ORAS isn't meant to be Emerald in 3D, you will love it.

The battle frontier would've been nice, just for a little more variety than doing singles/doubles/triples only with your own raised pokemon.
I'd also like more ways to level high-level pokemon, challenging the elite 4 over and over again gets pretty repetitive. If only normal trainers scaled to higher levels than 40-50.

If you want to bridge the wait to SM, then go for it, yes. It's not a bad pokemon game. Maybe it'll even feel fresher to you, not having played gen 3 before.

I don't mind the lack of Emerald features but I do mind the absolute lack of difficulty in Gen 6 in general, even with EXP share off. I firmly recommend you get a hack of these games like RutileRuby/StarSapphire, otherwise you'll blaze through in 15-ish hours (even if you're doing side stuff) or less and then find yourself with very little to do that wasn't already in X and Y.

The difficulty hack is absolutely worth it, and pushes these games up from a low 7 to a high 9 in my books.

OP, you are about to play one of the worst Pokémon games. Alpha Saphire is truly a very poor pokémon game.

Only thing you should keep in mind is that ORAS is defended as a RS remake, not an RSE remake, so as long as you remember that ORAS isn't meant to include positive features that were already designed and included in Emerald and willingly defend this decision, you will love it.

Considering the state of 3DS hacking, piracy and emulation in general, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a difficulty hack for Sun and Moon in a matter of weeks/months after its release. I'm completely okay with Sun and Moon being easy as fuck based on this fact alone.

ORAS has basically no end game, but hands down the best game for just getting a team of six Pokemon and beating the game. Pretty good choice of Pokemon to go for and awesome bottom screen features with the Area Nav and Dex Nav. Keep track of berries and trainer rematches on the Area Nav, while the Dex Nav alerts you to nearby Pokemon hiding. You can chain them for an eventual guarantee of, or if not a chance of, perfect/high IVs and hidden abilities and egg moves (Like Poochyena with Ice Fang).

Makes the play through more refreshing, as the number of possibilities in just finding wild Pokemon is pretty fun. Makes naming them easier too.

I also turned the Exp Share off and battled all trainers in all explorable areas, but had to do some training every couple of towns.

Homebrew your 3DS anyway so you can keep multiple save files and have them backed up just incase they corrupt. At this point theres literally no reason not to homebrew your 3DS.
