>>28382370There was at least some logic to the food sometimes (ice youkai wants shaved ice, fish youkai get mad if you feed them fish, kappas love cucumbers because folklore etc), but yeah, it was hard to guess sometimes. And even with food, you could fight a youkai twenty times without it joining you. And this includes unique boss ones you can only fight once a day.
