I personally find the Masuda hate stupid. He made a lot of great contributions to the series. I agree that his time's up though. His biggest mistake seems to be scaling back on the difficulty of Pokemon games to the point where Gym Leaders became sad little checkpoints without an ounce of challenge to them, and his idea of postgame seemed to be just online shit and breeding (granted, he did make the breeding process way easier).
SuMo look like they're gonna be amazing. I'm hoping its at least back to "normal" Pokemon game difficulty. Maybe if they push Exp Share towards the end of the game instead of giving it to you near the beginning, they'll actually do some decent level scaling?
I think Masuda tried to get people back into Pokemon by making everything easier, but the result was that it just bored the more hardcore fans.
