i had the old animal crossing new leaf xl and the difference is really noticeable. i mean, yeah, it's got a special design, but the gameplay is much cleaner, colors are brighter, the models seem to move more smoothly -- i didn't think i would notice this much of a difference but it's great.

For something like Monster Hunter where all you need is camera control, it's fine. They couldn't put a proper stick on it because you'd have to hold it all wonky to use the actual buttons and that's stupid when only a few games even use the c nub.

I just explained why a second circle pad would be a bad idea. Holding the 3DS asymmetrically to use whatever they put lower would be really uncomfortable and stupid when so few games even use it.

if you don't have a 3ds at all or if you have an og 3ds and/or something is wrong with your 3ds, yes. otherwise, no, unless you really want xenoblade port/snes eshop or play monster hunter or 200 dollars isn't a big deal to you.

if budget is a concern, no, get another refurb. if you're going to buy a new system, then yeah, there's no point not getting the latest and newest.
