Are there any rules you play by when going through a new pokémon game?

Do you have any special quirk or something like that?

Let's talk about it.
Some examples of what I mean:
>Only using new pokémon from that generation
>Catching every pokémon in every new route before moving on
>Keeping every pokémon in your party at an equal level
>Going through the game without "grinding" for even 5 minutes in any location

And so on

How do you play the games?

My own quirk is really just postgame related usually in that I am unfortunately autistic about keeping every game "separate", meaning I don't bring in pokémon I caught/bred/trained etc. in earlier games. I'd probably just re-breed a similar one because autism.
