My wife played Yellow and Crystal before we met (she played them via emulator on her phone), then I got her XY and a 3DS while we were dating.
She's beat XY and is slowly playing ORAS. When Sun/Moon come out (we got the dual pack), I'll probably introduce her to /vp/ (4chan).

She also really enjoys the card game, we bought a few starter decks and buy a 3 pack of boosters once a week while we're grocery shopping.
