What makes the DP games insufferable was the god awful speed it ran on. Just look at Platinum, that's basically DP that's actually well paced, and some consider it one of the best games in the series.

No. it had the fight area to explore, as well as Snowpoint temple and Turnback cave.
That's a lot more than literally nothing, literally nothing nothing 2: Literally Nothing Harder (unless you want to make the main game of GS tiny as fuck in order to make its post-game exist), and Battle Tower + Sky Pillar

Did you just like, not explore the rest of the island in DP? Just you just sit in the tower and assume that's all there was?
All Platinum did to the post game was upgrade the tower to the frontier and add a small side-story to help guide you to heatran.
