I can only hope that it appears in some kind of rescue mission where Ash and co. attempt to free it, or Gladion should he appear in the anime learns to love it and befriend it if its his Pokemon.

I'd love for it to be a recurring Pokemon, watching Ash and how he interacts with his Pokemon before deciding to join him.

I just don't want to see Mimikyu stuck in the role of a "Blasting off again!" mon. I get that it'll be happy if someone captures it and won't mind who it is as long as its loved. But making it a mon destined to not get any development would suck.

If it was like Goomy who joins Ash to get stronger but in this case to learn that it doesn't need to imitate Pikachu to be loved then that would best end for it.

Most of these seem like pretty obvious fits, but of the Pokemon revealed thus far none of them really seem suitable for the final spot. I think it'll probably wind up going to something we haven't seen yet, perhaps even an Alola Form of a Pokemon he's had in the past.

I'm still curious who the third companion will be. I would guess Sophocles, but being a techy, electric type specialist would put him too close to Clemont. My guess is that CoroCoro will have a few more Captains in it (possibly the 2-3 Melemele Captains, the current 4 revealed all being from Akala) and one of them will travel with Ash & Mallow.

Why would his vulpix ever just randomly turn into an Alolan vulpix? I mean it would make more sense if it still hasn't evolved yet but evolved in Alola THEN turned into an Alolan ninetails.

Ash tends to go for fast Pokemon, and Litten seems like it will be either the fastest or second fastest starter (and I don't think he'd go for the owl).

If he gets Popplio, it is never evolving. Ever. It will be the Oshawott of this generation. So I'd prefer to remain optimistic and hope he doesn't get Popplio.

If he gets all the starters then it'll probably be another B/W style thing where he ends up getting Pokemon he'll constantly switch out. If it's not all, he'll only get 1.

So Pikachu/Regional Bird/Starter(Any)/Rockruff/Jango/One Alola form Pokemon

And the rest are whatever. Does Ash have any Gen 1 Mons in the bank that could evolve into an Alolan form if he brings them over?

He'll get at least one of every type and have them on rotation like BW.
This allows him to learn how to use Z-Moves for each type, going through the region and learning from each captain.

Normal = Pikachu
(I suspect the first one we get in the games is Normal. Ash's Pikachu learns Quick Attack so he should get Pikachu to learn the Normal Z-Move).
Fire = Litten
Water = Popplio
Grass = Rowlet
Electric = Pikachu also
Flying = Pikipek
Bug = Whimpod
Fairy = Tapu Koko
Fighting = Crabrawler
Ground = Zygarde 10%
Ice = Sandslash
Ghost = Pallosand
Rock = Minior
