Ghost isn't an entity. Ghost is just a sprite to signify that without the silph scope you cannot see the Pokémons true form. By your logic you can catch the UBs just in their true form and not the first shown form.

I played them, and it's just an uncatchable Marowak. You can still catch and evolve a cubone into one. I think Marowak is in the unknown dungeon too.

I hope the Ultra Beasts take some cues from the Pokestar studios stuff in general and play less like "This is a strong not-pokemon for you to fight" and more like a puzzle for you to figure out.

So because you cannot catch a single lone Marowak, that signifies marowaks are uncatchable entities? Ghost isn't an entity. The ghost of Marowak is just a marowak.

But I hated not being able to catch ghosts too, as a kid I threw so many balls and tried all the stuff possible to get that Marowak.

But at the end of the day the ghost get explained and they let you catch their true identity and you can get a Marowak in other ways. Instead the UBs are unique creatures.

The ghost of Marowak is literally another Pokémon, the same as Black/White Kyurem in Pokémon BW2, which is uncatchable as well.

The difference with Ultra Beasts is that you will never have a UB in your team (even if it's not the same you fight). This leads to "powered up" bosses that don't need to be "balanced" and can perfom as actual JRPG bosses.

Do you think that Totem Pokémon will be catchable as well?
