Yeah I think Palkia and Dialga teamed up to get rid of him before having their own turf wars. Giratina is made by Arceus.

All of this UB stuff just leads too well into gen 4 stuff to be a coincidence. I think they'll add UBs in gen 4 and Giratina will be mad and letting them into Sinnoh during the postgame, you'll have to go catch Arceus and bring daddy into the distortion world to teach Giratina a lesson.
