To me, there are some ways to explain the new anime:
1- Delia is angry because Ash almost died AGAIN and will send him to study and no more battles (but he can't resist).

2- Oak will send Ash to study with his cousin, Samson, to finally learn what was missing to win an league.
Or even both, if you want. But I am really considering stop watching if he won't carrying Greninja with him. Team Flare arc is so good that it could be the best way to stop watching this anime, that took all my life, with good memories. Maybe I'll try the firsts episodes and see what happens.
