Stop, it's always been nothing but a giant comercial for the games, you shouldn't have expected any sort of continuity, decent story or character development, they just show the pokemon so kids see em and think they're cool enough to want to buy the games, you should have NEVER expected x/y to change this formula.
I'm going to have fun playing the best games in the franchise and maybe i'll catch an episode or two of the alola ashnime because it looks chill as fuck, comfy/10
