The true question is, what will happen in Gen 7 that will tone down the absolute domination Garchomp has in every type of competitive play?

Well they're seemingly introducing a fair amount of ice. Just throw in some new fairies as well, preferably some fast ones and Garchomp will have problems.

They don't need to nerf him, just make Ice less of a joke.

And give some of the spotlight to the other pseudos (aside from Goodra). Garchomp is, right now, the best pseudo-legendary by far excluding mega evolutions.

Dragonite isn't bad, Tyranitar is almost at Garchomp's level, and Metagross and Salamence both have Megas. The only pseudo who needs/deserves a buff is Hydreigon.

None of the pseudos are bad, they're all quite good. Even Goodra has a good set with AssVest.
Dragonite isn't nearly as overwhelming as Garchomp though.

Not counting its mega, since when?

If they decide to keep megas in the following gens I suppose it's fine, but even then, they should've buffed the third stage evos instead of introducing a fourth one.

Since it has been able to run effective Scard, Band, Leftovers, and Smooth Rock sets, all while proving great support to the team and hitting quite hard.

Did I mention it counters both Latios AND Talonflame? That alone makes it a huge asset.
